Trend Report: Kitchen Trends in 2021

Trend reports focusing on kitchens almost always catch my attention. Recently, I came across a few trends on the ELLE Décor website that resonated with not only my taste, but designs I’ve done in the past. These kitchens are right in line with what my customers are asking for today. In this post, I’ll showcase three of these design elements I used in a kitchen I designed in a Florida home.

Creating a regal yet understated appearance, slab backsplash is very “now.” I loved using this concept for my client who was seeking a moody look, while still keeping things simple. Using an interesting mix of materials and textures in a kitchen is fun, but the use of a matching countertop and backsplash keeps the design grounded. Pairing slab backsplash with a matching countertop provided just the right amount of glam to this beachfront home.

I love it when fashion and function meet! A great example of this is floor to ceiling cabinetry. When storage space is of the essence, sometimes designing up is the perfect plan. This floor to ceiling cabinetry not only showcases beautiful stained wood cabinets, but also provides storage in every inch of this compact, contemporary space.

Sleek cabinetry is always on-trend. In this lovely kitchen, I’ve paired a slab door style with simple crown moulding and finished off the look with contemporary, sleek cabinet hardware. The glass front cabinets offer yet another level of personalization with the opportunity to showcase dinner and glassware. The rich wood tone finish of the cabinets and neutral color palette used throughout the room perfectly complete this look.

I hope you appreciate the use of these kitchen design trends as much as I do. Hopefully, if your heart desires, you’ll have the opportunity to utilize some of these concepts in a new home or kitchen redesign in the near future!
